Vinyl Coated Chicken wire is a wire mesh that can be used to fence in chickens or build a chicken coop. This is the same exact product as Vinyl Coated Hex Netting, but since it’s more commonly known as Vinyl Coated Chicken Wire, we sell it under that name as well. It’s made of thin, flexible, 20 gauge galvanized steel wire with hexagonal gaps – with a PVC coating to help greatly increase it’s rust resistance. Available in 1 inch (about 2.5 cm) diameter. Vinyl Coated Chicken wire is occasionally used to build inexpensive pens for small animals (or to protect plants and property from animals) though the thinness of the wire may be inappropriate for animals prone to gnawing and will not keep out predators. Hardware cloth or Welded Wire are stronger alternatives.
