Chain Link Mesh Opening Measure

Measure your chain link mesh diagonally (inside measurements) as shown in the photograph. If the measurement is 2" then the gauge of the wire is typically 9 or 11. If the measurement is 2 1/4" or 2 3/8", then the gauge of the wire is usually 11 1/2, 12 or 12 1/2.

The most common mesh sizes for chain link fence are 2" (typically 9 or 11 gauge wire) and 2-1/4" or 2-3/8" (typically 11-1/2, 12 or 12-1/2 gauge wire).

You have to measure across when you are dealing with chain link mesh. Be sure that you measure a few different spots on your fence line. It is very common for chain link fence to be stretched too far and the diamonds vary. You measure across just like the arrows are showing on the picture below.

Of course, measuring chain link fence also refers to the total length of the installation place. Before installing the chain link fencing and chain link gate, we should get the result of the square field length, the chain fence post quantity, the gate number and so on.
