What is use of chicken wire mesh in construction Civil Experience
In this Civil Experience article, you will learn about chicken mesh wire such as What is chicken mesh wire, why chicken mesh is used in plastering and how to fix chicken wire mesh so read the full article
Why Chicken Mesh Wire use on Construction Site
Normally to prevent crack we use chicken wire at the point of junction of to different materials like a brick wall and concrete column
The main fundamental of crack is thermal expansion of two different materials which has a different coefficient of thermal expansion
In other words modulus of elasticity of concrete is different than the modulus of elasticity of the block so the crack will be happened so to avoid this issue we normally use chicken mesh for plastering so I'm sure you got your answer for why chicken mesh is used in plastering
Chicken wire mesh |
Note: Steel and concrete has something like the same thermal coefficient
What is Chicken Mesh for Plaster?
Its nothing special but it is a wire structure of MS Steel wire mesh or fibre Mesh whatever you want to use according to your construction requirement at the site
Wire mesh looks like a sheet that has a chicken or honeycombs type structure see the above image for a better understanding
Use of Chicken Wire Mesh
Chicken Mesh Wire is placed on the structure component which has a different coefficient of thermal expansion as explain above and see image to visible how to place chicken mesh in construction
So that thin chicken wire mesh behaves like reinforcement and helps to make a stronger bond between a brick wall and column and as a result, chicken wire mesh in concrete decrease the chances of a crack this is the best chicken mesh uses
You can also use fibre chicken mesh or diamond mesh for plastering or PVC chicken mesh for plastering to avoid cracks all of having the same principle but use as pe your condition of work, nature
Chicken mesh is used to prevent cracking and hold the plaster together
- For Brickwork mostly use MS Wire mesh
- For Block/ACC Block we prefer fibre wire mesh
Note:-
- That in exterior plaster which is thicker than 20mm there is no need to use chicken mesh since the mesh isn’t galvanized enough and gives you risk for rust expansion end of results plaster fall down yearly
- Use chicken wire mesh specification for plastering carefully because any kind of misleading create a hairpin crack on plaster
FAQ 1: Why Chicken Mesh Wire use on Construction Site?
Normally to prevent crack we use chicken wire at the point of junction of to different material like a brick wall and concrete column
FAQ 2: What is Chicken Mesh for Plaster?
Chicken Mesh Wire is placed on the structure component which has a different coefficient of thermal expansion as explain above and see image to visilise how to place chicken mesh in construction so crack are prevented
