salem, or
I'm starting to work on the pen portion of my coop and would like to use 6'high hardware cloth. Does anyone know where to find it. Online is ok too. Also, what gauge??
Thanks!

This is the supplier I use:

I buy their 48" wide vinyl coated 1/2" by 1/2" 19 gauge. I like it, it's a good product, good to work with and (I believe) sufficiently strong for the predators I have to cope with (raccoons, mostly).

They do have 6 ft. wide wire, but it's not 1/2" by 1/2" spacing. And it's 14 gauge and lower (and pretty darn expensive). I've worked with the 16 gauge; it's very hard to cut with wire cutters and you can't bend it much, either. But if you have to contend with the bigger predators, that kind of wire would probably do the trick.

Actually, what I do is make panels with uprights every four feet, and use the 48" wide wire running it vertically. The other way to go about it would be to use 36" wire horizontally, but use two rows and splice in the middle using Loxit clips or something like that.

Here is a copy of a quote I issued yesterday. Due to the cost of freight buing locally will probably be better for you but these prices will pretty much tell you where the floor is.

Here is your price on PVC wire coated wire mesh picked-up in Portland. We
are buying a semi load to come in mid to late May and can get it at this
better than average price.

This is the best US made PVC coated product that can be bought. The only
other manufacturer that is equal is Riverdale Mills in MA.

This is uncoated GBW from the same company. Good stuff

I really can't do any better pricewise on the GAW than you can buy it for
here-

It is China manufactured and is of "acceptable" quality especially for the
minimum demands you guys would make on it. The galvanizing is nice and
smooth but sometimes the wires do not run perpendicular to one another and
after a some distance the wire gets out of square.

How about two 3'rolls and a spool of galvanized wire?

Seems like a lot cheaper, and only a little more work. (lacing the two pieces together.
