Expanded Metal Lath Offers Wall Reinforcement and Prevents Cracking

Expanded metal lath is widely applied on wall, ceiling and other building plastering works, including the reinforcement and renovation of joints and cracks as it offers better plaster bonding property and enhanced crack resistance.

We offer a wide range of expanded metal lath products from diamond mesh flat lath, self-furring lath, paper-backed lath and corner mesh to meet your specific demands.

Made of galvanized steel sheet or stainless steel sheet, galvanized steel expanded metal lath is generally for internal uses while stainless steel expanded metal lath is typically for external uses.

Flat Diamond Mesh Lath

Flat diamond mesh lath is manufactured by slitting and stretching galvanized steel or stainless steel sheets to form small openings, thereby allowing the plaster keys to be bonded to the lath and offering better crack resistance and higher strength. Each sheet has square ends and smooth parallel edges for fast, easy handling and installation.

Flat diamond mesh lath is used as plaster base and reinforcement on almost all type of walls, ceilings, over wood or steel framing, flat or curved surfaces. The large number of openings provide better stucco bonding property.

Paper-Backed Lath

Paper-backed lath is a kind of metal lath with asphalt saturated kraft building paper applied on the back to control moisture, air flow and reduce air infiltration, thereby providing improved energy efficiency. It is easy to install and is an ideal choice for serving as a base for stone, ceramic tile and traditional stucco.

The paper is waterproof. It provides sheathing protection against moisture during curing and forms a vertical surface behind the exterior wall cladding (stucco, brick, siding, etc.) to allow moisture safely drain out of the wall system.

Self-Furring Dimpled Mesh Lath

Self-furred dimpled mesh lath is manufactured with evenly spaced indentations that hold the metal lath 1/4" away from the surface to be plastered to allow the plaster or stucco to be embedded more thoroughly into the lath and provide excellent mechanical bonding over the surface to be plastered.

Self-furring dimpled mesh lath is extensively used in plaster works and serves as plaster reinforcement over interior masonry walls and in steel column fireproofing, or functions as a reinforcement for base coat in ceramic tile works.

Self-furring dimpled mesh lath is also available with asphalt paper backing.

Self-Furring V-Groove Metal Lath

Self-furring v-groove metal lath is manufactured with 1/4" deep grooves and 5 grooves per sheet. These grooves are spaced 6" on the center along the length of the sheet and allow a thorough embedment into and behind the lath for superior mechanical bonding.

Self-furring v-groove metal lath is easily shaped for curved or contoured surfaces. It helps maintain consistent plaster depths and eliminates the need for added furring strips. To maintain the furring characteristics of v grooves, fasteners must be applied within the v-cavity.

Self-furring v-groove metal lath is widely used in plastering over surfaces such as concrete, cement board, column fireproofing, masonry surfaces as well as replastering over old surfaces. In addition, self-furring v-groove metal lath is available with asphalt paper backing.

Strip Lath

Strip lath is a flat expanded metal lath used as plaster reinforcement over joints of solid bases and joints of dissimilar bases. It can be flexibly applied on irregular surfaces.

Strip lath is commonly attached diagonally at the corner of doors, windows or other areas prone to cracking for reinforcement. Cut the strip lath as needed and install it onto the outside corners of windows and doors at an angle of 45° to reinforce its capacity against the concentration of stress and cracking.

Corner Mesh

Corner mesh, also known as corner lath, has smooth edges to form regular diamond patterns. It is specially designed for reinforcing interior corners at an angle of approximately 105° to offer resistance when being pushed into the corner.

Corner mesh is used in corners where walls meet walls or ceilings for reinforcement to prevent cracking.

In addition, stucco wire mesh is another metal mesh used to help give support and strength to stucco walls and other structures for reinforcement.

Mainly made of galvanized steel wire, it is a kind of steel wire mesh with hexagonal meshes. Its reverse twist structure offers a solid, uniform and flat surface for high strength and durability. Reinforced wires are added for higher load capacity.

Compared with expanded metal lath, its woven structure will not cracking and loosing when it is cut into pieces.

It is widely used in in various wall surfaces for plastering, cementing, stuccoing and other wall constructions.
