I have a 2 storey garage which is partitioned downstairs, on the roller door small side all copper pipes go up one side of the wall and waste pipe for toilet upstairs... Its newly built but left roller door open the other night and my wife who works from garage thinks there is a mouse inside. This is quite possible as there is loads of cracks and gaps around copper pipes and waste pipe at my side of the garage... Need to get this small area of ceiling sealed up. Is it ok to use expanding foam around copper pipes or is there a better solution?
Cement mixed with fine broken glass and some copper mesh https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stuffit-Co...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=1HQBBJK7E0KGP8NV2A66 Most rodents don't like copper and the cement will hold it in place. The fine broken glass will deter very persistent rodents as it grinds their teeth down as they nibble at it. Rats can get through a hole just under an inch high and a quarter of that for a mouse !
you really need some evidence to confirm its a mouse,it could be a rat With evidence an accurate remedy is possible.
If it's a rat...what is the solution. If it's a mouse...what is the solution. What is the "accurate" remedy for each. RS
Best way to deal with a rat is a "high speed injection of lead", whereas a sprung trap is best for a mouse.
Had to fix a ceiling where somebody thought it would be a good to get rid of the rat above the plasterboard by stabbing it with a garden fork ! After I had finished the electrician had to come in and replace the T&E where the plonker had shorted the electric - luckily for him it was a wooden handled fork
Different poisons are available for different rodents.(via the trade). As the Op 'thinks' its a mouse, some more evidence is required to find a remedy to the concern, expanding foam has its limitations.
Nobody is recommending expanding foam. Even if there is no mouse it is good practice to block any holes to prevent access
I live in the country. Field mice are common. Rats are dirty, very much doubt there is a rat here. The mouse seems to be stuck under floorboards, so does that mean i need to get trap through gaps and into area between the joists. As if i seal the access point up then mouse will be stuck and can't kill it...
