My wife and I made the de-tour through Cochran on our trip from Edmonton to Canmore for an extended weekend. We happened to come across Fence & Post by chance and could not have been happier with our experience. I had the burger - amazing...and my we split the Brussels Spouts. We tried to get the Chef’s secrets from the server. Highly Recommended. Worth the De-TourMore

We stopped by after reading the trip advisor reviews. Service was very nice, and the food amazing. We both had the smash burger with cheese. Very good meet, cheese was shredded, not just a slice of cheddar, and the greens on side with the capers...and pickles was so delightful. The beer list is small but impressive, some of the finest breweries in the province. We totally recommend.More

My daugter invited me to go shopping in Cochrane and have lunch which is about an hr's drive from the SW end of Calgary through Bragg Creek. This restaurant looked newly renovated with light clean decor. The lunch special was one piece fish and chips...so we decided to try it. The coating was very light with a nice piece of fish. French fries were very tasty and I believe the ketchup was homemade. The side was lightly feather chopped purple cabbage with a very very light cream dressing. Thoroughly enjoyed as the serving size was perfect for me.More

I brought my husband here as I was very impressed with the food on prior visits. Husband ordered the special perogies and I ordered the Brie apple grilled cheese. My husband watched them cook our orders and wasn’t impressed by the time it took to...put the lunches together making them both cold. My grilled cheese was burnt and the cheese was still cold and solid. They took back my order and put it in the microwave. Perogies sat on the counter and the eggs sat on a spatula waiting to get put together. Came to him cold. No surprise. Sorry won’t be back.More

The first time we ate here we were blown away at the service an delicious food. The second time we went the service was still good, but the food wasn't as great. We found their winter menu had too many sweet elements and every dish...we got was just way too sweet. I don't mind sweet elements now and again but for 3/4 different entree dishes you order to be sweet is kind of disappointing. Still excited to see what they come up with for the new season. Also, they have great wine!More

We booked this restaurant for our party of four, on a recommendation from friends, unfortunately, it was a great disappointment. We arrived early, sat at the bar, ordered drinks but there is where the disappointment started. No white rum, Bartender wasn't comfortable in making a...Martini, Tom Collins was horrible and they didn't have any "top shelf" spirits only mostly local distillery gin/rum and craft beer. The menu was very confusing - having to choose "First, Second and Third" dish which was supposedly new to the F&P. We did order and waited 2.5 hours. Yes, it was very busy (Dec 14th) but that was ridiculous. they comped us a jar of smoked nuts (value$5). Meals arrived: Wedge salad (was not a "wedge" but very small romaine leaves with the usual fixings on a wedge; Charcuteries board was definitely lacking - the meat (2) was very fatty and lacked flavour, the pate was delicious but no pickles, minimal cheese; brussel sprouts (shareable) we roasted and very tasty; 2 orders of steak were a disappointment - very small serving and not a lot of flavour; the snapper was small and lacking flavour; the braised beef was horrible! It was very over cooked (charred) with absolutely no flavour (just add more demi glace!!! was the solution I was given) imagine a hunk of chuck roast the size of a small hand palm, cast iron fried with absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. I should've sent it back but I didn't want to wait any longer than I already had. Waitress came by to offer us "free dessert" for the inconvience of the evening, we were grateful for the offer and made our dessert choices (4), when she said "oh, perhaps I wasn't clear, that would be 1 dessert not 4 desserts". We told her she wasn't clear - we took the free dessert (value $10.00) and ordered one more shareable dessert. Yes, there were many apologizes by the staff but we will be very hard pressed to go back to this restaurant. It was a very expensive disappointment.More

Superb experience from beginning to end. Lovely hostess, friendly & professional waitress and world-class food. Amazing combinations of flavors and textures in the food. We had a steak and chicken entrees along with roasted beet salad, Winter squash and cauliflower. Each dish had a number...of contrasting ingredients that came together in a great way. Highly recommended.More

Finally I got to go to the Fence and Post and what a menu!! With so many “herbivore” options, I was delighted to see the variety, as well as many meat entrees as well. We had the garlic balloon to start which was absolute delicious,...and three entrees, and we got the potatoes to go with our meal with I highly recommend getting as they go great with the entrees, and then a fabulous sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Will be back.More
